About Me
I’m Sophie Davenport, a Richmond, Virginia native and a journalism student at the University of Georgia’s Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication. I study journalism with minors in design and media and consumer economics, blending visual storytelling with audience strategy and a strong understanding of consumer behavior and marketplace trends. I specialize in short-form and documentary-style video storytelling, with experience across newsroom, freelance, and agency environments.
Since my freshman year, I’ve worked at The Red & Black, UGA’s nonprofit, student-run newspaper, where I became the paper’s first Social Media Video Editor. In this role, I produce weekly Reels and TikToks across news, culture, sports, and food and drink. In spring 2025, I expanded the video program by training and leading a team of student videographers.
In summer 2025, I began working for Lucie Content, a storytelling-first video production company founded by journalists that focuses on community-driven, human-centered content for nonprofits, brands, and organizations. I produce and edit short-form and documentary-style videos, support client content grab days, contribute to executive communications reels, and work across all stages of production operating gimbal and 360-degree cameras.
Alongside my professional work, I founded The Visibility Project, a freelance video storytelling initiative focused on helping small businesses grow their digital presence through video content. Through end-to-end production and analytics-driven strategy, I’ve helped Richmond-based businesses significantly increase reach, impressions, and engagement, reinforcing my belief in video as a tool for visibility.
I also served as a student brand ambassador for national and regional organizations including Amazon Prime Student, Alani Nutrition, and The Martin Agency. In these roles, I created consistent short-form social content across Instagram and TikTok, aligning posts with brand messaging, target audiences, and campaign goals. I also supported experiential marketing efforts by hosting on-campus events, coordinating product sampling, and driving student sign-ups through in-person engagement. Through this work, I gained hands-on experience in brand storytelling, audience activation, and translating corporate campaigns into authentic, peer-driven content that resonates with college audiences.
Whether I’m telling a local story or building visibility for a brand, I bring a thoughtful, human-first approach grounded in creativity, clarity, and care.
“Sophie is a fighter – she is a driven individual who will not let obstacles stand in her way to achieve her goals.”
